Description

RTP Capital is an angel investment network based in Research Triangle Park (Raleigh-Durham), North Carolina, USA, comprised of accredited individual investors who pool expertise and capital to back seed and early-stage startups primarily in the Southeastern U.S. The group works collaboratively to identify, diligence, and fund promising opportunities while providing strategic support.

Pre-Seed / Seed: Core activity — members invest in early rounds where angel capital helps the company begin scaling.
Follow-On: Members may also participate in early-stage follow-on or syndicated deals with co-investors where there’s strong growth potential.

Typical Investment Size: $100,000 – $500,000+ from the collective group per opportunity (aggregated from individual angel members).
Individual Member Stakes: Members invest their own capital and select participation levels; there’s no single fixed percentage that RTP Capital itself takes — terms are negotiated per deal between founders and investors.
Industry Norm (Founder Expectation):
• In early angel syndicates like this, collective dilution across seed investors often falls in the ~10 %–25 % range of total company equity (rounded across all investors in a round).
Individual member stakes typically fall in the ~1 %–10 % range depending on valuation and individual check size.
RTP Capital does not publicly disclose a fixed ownership target, so founders should expect terms aligned with standard angel/seed norms rather than a preset cap-table rule.
Equity Structure: Standard early-stage instruments — priced equity, SAFEs, or convertible notes based on negotiation with participating members and round terms.
Governance: Because RTP Capital is a member network (not a single fund), governance rights (board seats, observers) are deal-specific and come with negotiation between founders and involved investors.

Submission Method: Founders submit through RTP Capital’s online application; opportunities reviewed by members.
Pitch Meetings: Companies are presented to the group; interested members may join a deal team for deeper diligence.
