Description

MercyOne Des Moines Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the MercyOne health system, a nonprofit Catholic healthcare organization. The foundation raises and distributes grant funding and philanthropic support to programs and initiatives that improve community health, enhance clinical services, and expand access to care throughout central Iowa and surrounding regions. Its grants support community benefit programs, innovative health services, equipment, and nonprofit partners that align with MercyOne’s mission to transform health and well-being.

Eligibility

Nonprofit organizations or community health initiatives aligned with MercyOne’s mission to improve access to care and quality of life.
• Programs that demonstrably benefit community health or healthcare delivery.
• Entities that meet funding criteria and priorities outlined in MercyOne’s sponsorship and grant guidelines.
• MercyOne may prioritize requests that align with its Mission, Vision, and Values and overall community benefit strategy.

Process

Identify Need & Alignment: An organization or initiative assesses fit with MercyOne’s mission and community benefit priorities (e.g., improved health outcomes).

Request Submission: Interested parties submit a grant or sponsorship request via MercyOne’s online forms or through direct outreach to foundation staff.

Evaluation: MercyOne evaluates proposals based on alignment with mission, potential community impact, and available resources

Award Decision: If approved, funds are granted to support eligible programs — typically charitable nonprofit activities rather than business development.

Implementation & Reporting: Grantees apply funds to intended health or community initiatives and may report outcomes to the foundation
