Cardboard boxes are inconvenient to the consumer and pose a serious problem to our environment. The process of trying to open, deconstruct and cram your cardboard box into a recycling bin is unnatural, irritating, and wasteful. Bound allows consumers to easily open, collapse, and return through the mail. This saves retailers countless dollars in material and significantly reduces waste.

The packaging industry is starting to look for ways to ship products conveniently and sustainably. Bound recognizes that if everyone is trying to think outside the box, maybe it is the box that needs fixing. Bound takes the average box and changes its single use function with origami, allowing consumers to easily collapse and return their used package without ever leaving the driveway.

Bound is not a consumer product. Strategy is focused on building strategic partnerships and forming alliances with major organizations in the packaging industry. Bound is currently collaborating with Georgia Pacific, USPS, and the US Plastics Pact. This collaboration will help bound with marketing, manufacturing, distribution, and acquiring new customers.

In short, the two companies listed below are fantastic packaging solutions in their own space, but none of these packaging solutions can substitute or compete with the cardboard box.  The cardboard box is our only direct competitor and Bound is the only substitute capable of replacing it.

Boox:
  • Pros: Boox provides select retailers with a sustainable and appealing way to ship their product. 
  • Cons: Boox is not a substitution to the cardboard box. Boox only applies to a small share of the market and is less convenient to the consumer across the board.
